Kepler is changing the face of satellite communications by launching a constellation of telecommunication nano-satellites! With the recent success of our Series A funding, a handful of early customers, and our first satellite in orbit, Kepler is currently doubling in size!

Kepler is looking for a Head of Finance who has demonstrated an exceptional ability to manage all areas of finance and accounting for a rapidly growing start-up company.

The scope of work involves all aspects of finance and accounting from managing day to day accounting operations to managing financial reporting and supporting FP&A activities: you will be given a significant scope of work and will be expected to deliver.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Establish, monitor, educate on and enforce Finance & Accounting related policies and practices
  • Implement and enforce internal controls for purchasing/procurement, expense management etc.
  • Oversee and manage all accounting operations including managing transaction reporting, general ledgers, bank reconciliations, Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
  • Create financial statements including Balance Sheets, Income Statements etc.
  • Create and manage annual budgets, budget reconciliations/variances and other financial forecasts
  • Support FP&A activities as required 
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Recommend and create accounting KPI’s / reporting dashboard
  • Perform internal audits and coordinate third-party external audits of financial information as necessary
  • Manage tax remittances and other finance related government filings
  • Support adhoc finance related projects

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • 5+ years of experience in a wide variety of areas of finance and accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of finance and accounting principles and practices including GAAP
  • Experience in fast-paced start-up environments
  • Experience owning all aspects of finance & accounting and operating as a sole finance team member

Bonus Points:

  • MBA or Master’s in Accounting, Finance or related area
  • CPA or CMA designation or in-progress
  • Experience building a finance function from scratch and building/scaling a finance team alongside the growth of a start-up business
